Penny McNamee Will Perform at This Year’s Carols in the Domain: ‘Singing Brings Me Joy’

It’s been a huge two years for Penny McNamee.

Playing Summer Bay Doctor Tori Morgan on Home and Away, the actress recently revealed a passion for singing on the Australian stage — the Carols in the Domain, to be exact.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to sing,” McNamee tells TV Buzz exclusively. “I’ve been lucky to participate in a few musicals over the years, and this year, I’ll be singing at the Domain!”

With its 35th year, the Woolworths Carols in the Domain is always a star-studded affair, bringing in the interests of Jessica Mauboy, Johnny Ruffo and Guy Sebastian.

“My two-year-old son Jack isn’t really a fan of my singing unless it’s the Wiggles, or Peppa Pig. Our favourite carol is ‘Have Yourself a Very Merry Little Christmas’ because growing up my mother rented the film, ‘Meet Me in St. Louis,’ because it had four daughters and one son— just like my family!”

McNamee will be joined by an outstanding celebrity ensemble — Dami Im, Todd McKenney, and the cast of The Wizard of Oz — who are just some of the amazing talent ready to hit the festive stage.

“I’m truly inspired by Broadway performers,” she admits. “I’ve lived in New York for four years, just before I started on Home and Away, and I’m sure I watched at least sixty musicals while I was there. I definitely have my favourites — Sutton Foster and Kelli O’Hara are two musical theatre performers that I simply adore.”

From New York to home in Sydney, Penny now enjoys life on the sparkling beaches of Summer Bay. “I have a very big schedule on Home and Away, and then I have my two-year-old son and husband Matt,” she adds. “I don’t spend much time with friends because my weekends are strictly for family. I also hired a cleaner so I can simply enjoy that time with my favourite guys.”
